The history of our karate schools.
Regardless of age or size of that practitioner, the true spirit of the martial arts promotes respect among people through physical and mental growth, and most importantly by
developing perfection of one's character.
Sustained by a sense of pride, self-respect, and inner peace, the Karate-Ka (practitioner)
strives for a victory over their own weaknesses. To conquer fear, to know true honor, and to develop the courage to refuse failure is the real goal. The respect we seeks is our own.
The victory that we seek is to conquer ourselves, and by conquering ourselves we find true
Paul Prendergast Karate Schools were founded in 1989 on these very principles. Paul Prendergast started his training in the martial arts in 1980, under Kenpo Grand Master Art Beins. Since that time Master Paul has had the pleasure and honor to train and receive rank under some of the best martial arts instructors in the world.
At Paul Prendergast karate schools, our style is an eclectic system from these great instructors who passed on their priceless knowledge to Master Paul. Kenpo Karate, Jujitsu, Submission Grappling, Judo, and Modern Arnis are the styles that Master Paul used to create his award winning system, this system of martial arts has produced countless high caliber students who have gone on to Black Belt, and to Master level.
The structure of our karate classes revolves around three essential components:
- SELF DEFENSE
- PHYSICAL FITNESS
- CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
